Winter and Summer Used Clothing: Matching the Bale to Your Climate
The fastest-selling bale is the one that matches the weather outside your stall. Choosing between summer clothing and winter grades, and timing your container for the right season, is one of the simplest ways to lift your sales.
Summer and tropical clothing
Tropical mix is lightweight everyday clothing for warm climates: T-shirts, shorts, light dresses, blouses and summer wear. It suits markets that are hot all year, such as Central America, the Caribbean coast, West Africa and much of Southeast Asia, and it sells steadily month after month.
Winter clothing
Winter grades include jackets, coats, knitwear, heavy denim and warm layers. They sell in highland and southern markets and in cold-winter regions: the Andes of Bolivia and Peru, Uruguay and Chile, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Botswana, and Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
Markets with two climates
Some countries buy both. Ecuador's warm coast wants light clothing, while Quito and Cuenca in the highlands want knitwear and jackets. Peru's coast and mountains differ in the same way. Tell us which region your customers live in, and we will build the mix to suit.
Timing your container
- Remember the seasons flip. South of the equator, winter runs from about June to August.
- Work back from your season. Add our loading time of 5 to 7 business days after cleared payment, plus ocean transit and customs clearance at your end.
- Order winter grades early, so they arrive as the weather turns rather than after.
- Keep summer stock flowing in warm markets with regular orders.
Matching grade and climate
| Your climate | What sells best |
|---|---|
| Hot all year | Tropical mix, T-shirts, light dresses, sandals |
| Cool highlands | Jackets, knitwear, closed shoes and boots |
| Cold winters | Coats, heavy denim, blankets, winter boots |
| Two climates | A mix by region, built to your order |
Shoes follow the weather too
Sandals, flip flops and sports shoes suit warm markets, while work boots, winter boots and ladies' fashion boots sell in cooler months. Our sorted shoes come in these categories, paired and banded.
