Frequently Asked Questions
The questions buyers ask us most, answered in full. If yours is not here, message us — we would rather answer it than have you guess.
Ordering and minimums
What is your minimum order?
Our standard minimum is 53 ft trailer or 40 ft export containers. For buyers testing a new product or placing a first order with us, we can arrange warehouse inspections — ask and we will tell you what is possible for your destination.
Do you sell by the bale or only by the container?
We sell by the bale, by the pallet and by the full container load. Freight economics mean most export buyers order full containers, but smaller quantities are available for buyers within reach of Houston or consolidating with other cargo.
How much fits in a 40 ft high-cube container?
A 40 ft HC container holds approximately 40 bales of used clothing at 40,000 lbs per container. Shoes, toys and metalware load differently — see each product page. We load to fill the container you have paid for; we do not ship short.
Can I mix products in one container?
Yes. Combined loads can include any of our products in the proportions you specify, subject to a minimum of 40ft export container. Tell us the mix you want and we will confirm what we can hold.
How do I place my first order?
Send your destination, product, grade and volume through the inquiry form or on WhatsApp. You will have a written quotation within one business day. The full process is set out on our How to Order page.
Grades and product
What is credential clothing?
Credential clothing — also called original clothing — is used clothing baled exactly as collected, with nothing sorted out and nothing added. The buyer receives the full range of what was collected and sorts it to their own market. It carries the lowest cost per kilogram and the highest sorting effort.
What is the difference between credential and sorted item clothing?
Credential is unsorted: you get everything that was collected. Sorted item clothing has been separated into named categories by garment type, gender and quality, so a bale of ladies' dresses contains ladies' dresses. Credential costs less per kilogram; sorted sells faster and at a higher price where the customer sees the garment before buying. Which is right depends on whether the sorting margin belongs to you or to us.
What are mixed rags?
We sell thrift surplus, institutional clothing, salvage bulk clothing. Mixed rags generally means the bulk mixed product drawn from the same intake as institutional clothing. It matters whether a supplier means wearable mixed goods or wiper-grade material, because the two are very different products at very different prices. Ask us and we will tell you exactly what is in ours.
What is institutional clothing?
Clothing that has passed through a US thrift retail floor without selling. Because it has already been through one round of retail, it carries a higher proportion of ordinary wearables and is more consistent from bale to bale than credential.
Why do you sell single shoes?
Because unpaired shoes still have value and throwing them away is waste. In markets where matching is done locally, and for customers who need one shoe rather than two, singles sell. Very few exporters separate them out cleanly; we do.
Are the sorted shoes paired?
Yes. Our sorted and graded shoes are paired and banded. Used and credential shoes are supplied as is, which may include unpaired items.
Do you supply linens separately from clothing?
Yes. Sheets, duvet covers, blankets, towels, curtains and table linen are a dedicated product rather than a filler inside clothing bales, because they sell to different buyers at different prices.
Store returns and overstock
What is the difference between store returns, overstock and shelf pulls?
Shelf pulls and overstock are new and unworn, generally with original tags — removed from the sales floor for seasonal or inventory reasons rather than any fault. Customer returns are mixed, include opened packaging, and carry a proportion of defective items, sold as-is. We tell you in writing which one a lot is before you buy.
What is a high piece count lot?
A lot selected for the number of individual items per pallet rather than for retail value — small goods, accessories and low-cube items. The right buy when your margin comes from unit count on a stall rather than from ticket price.
Inspection and quality
Can I see the goods before I pay?
Yes. You receive photographs and video of the actual goods before you confirm, and we photograph and video the container as it is loaded. Buyers who can travel are welcome to inspect at 6110 Griggs Rd, Houston, Texas by appointment.
Do you send samples?
No. We prefer if you come inspect the goods.
Payment, shipping and documents
What are your payment terms?
A 50% advance confirms your order and starts processing of the load. The balance is due at the time of loading, against loading photographs and the draft bill of lading. Payment is by bank transfer in US dollars. We accept ACH/Wires on all orders.
Which Incoterms do you quote?
We quote EXWORKS from the Port of Houston as standard. Tell us at quotation stage if you need a different basis and we will confirm what we can offer for your destination.
Which port do you ship from?
The Port of Houston, one of the largest export gateways in the United States, with direct services to Latin America, West Africa and beyond. Our warehouse is a short drive from the terminal, which keeps inland haulage off your invoice.
Do you ship to my country?
We ship worldwide and currently serve buyers across Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, South and Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. See Markets We Serve for the current list, and ask if your country is not on it — we open new destinations regularly.
What documents do I receive?
Commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, fumigation and certificate of origin as standard. Tell us at quotation stage if your customs authority requires anything further and we will confirm whether we can supply it.
How long from payment to shipment?
Typically 5-7 business days from cleared payment to a loaded container, plus sailing time to your port.
Do you handle freight, or do I?
We can handle freight on your behalf but we will require full freight payment before releasing the container under your name.
Working with us
Can I get a price list?
Prices move with the market and with grade availability, so we quote against your specific requirement rather than publishing a fixed list. Send your destination, product and volume and you will have current pricing within one business day.
What languages do you work in?
We work in English, Spanish and French, by email, phone and WhatsApp.
I am importing for the first time. Will you help?
Yes, and you should say so when you write to us. First-time importers get the process explained step by step, a recommendation on which grade suits their market rather than the grade with the best margin for us, and a smaller starting load where that makes sense. A buyer whose first container sells well comes back; that is the whole business.
